The Barnacle celebrating Literacy Month

The Barnacle (3485 Main Highway) is hosting its 4th annual Barnacle, Books, Birds, & Boats on Sunday, September 12, from 11 am to 3 pm in celebration of International Literacy Day, National Library Card Sign Up Month, and Florida Adult and Family Literacy Month.

Visit the park for a day filled with games, prizes and a ranger book reading. Coconut Grove’s librarian will be on site giving away prizes and issuing library cards. If you wish you can pack a picnic, a good book and spend the day relaxing and reading in the shade one of the park’s many trees.

During the weekend of September 10-12, Florida State Parks is waiving park entrance fees for visitors bringing a library card, a library book or who donate a new or gently-used book. If you don’t have a library card, stop by the library on your way to the park!
