Coconut Grove needs lots of art in public places
Key West has a lot of art in public places, which has been added in the last couple of years. They not only have the wildness of Duval Street and the water sports, but art is a very integral part of the island now.
Surrounding the Museum of Art and History, in the old Custom's House, is a new installation consisting of mostly life size "people." There is a very large kissing couple out front (about three stories high) and this large sculpture, a recreation of "The Dance," by Matisse, which is quite large, but most surrounding the building are life size sculptures of people doing everyday things.
This would work quite well in Coconut Grove. We have so many waterfront parks which are large enough to accommodate large art projects. J. Steward Johnson is the creator of the "people" and it is presented by The Sculpture Foundation.
