Mayfair Shopping Center is on the market
As many suspected for a long time, the Mayfair Shopping Center is up for sale. In recent years, the place has become rundown. Many of the shops leak and contractors who turned a lot of the second floor into offices cut wiring, piping and air conditioning so the bottom floors were affected by not having services. They just cut the wires on everything with no foresite to anyone wanting to use the empty spaces below.
Over the years, lot of the retail space was converted to office space. The architecture is incredible. Hopefully new owners can be found and they will turn the property and turn it into a first class center.
The property houses The Bookstore, the Mayfair Hotel, and extends all the way down to the former Borders books location, which is still sitting empty after Borders left years ago. In between are art galleries and the Antique Market, the Improv and lots of office space above. There is even club space left over from a couple of defunct clubs: Oxygen and Cielo.
