It was a perfect morning to walk with the doc

This morning a few of us met at Kennedy Park for A Walk With a Doc. Cardiologist Dr. Stratego Castanes (above center) was the doc in attendance. Today's subject was antioxidants. I thought I knew a lot on the subject already, but I did learn a lot today.


It was a nice group, district Commissioner Marc Sarnoff joined us. The walk started out with a little talk on the subject of the day (antioxidants) and then we got to try some -- strawberries, blueberries and cherries, along with water and coffee, and then we were off on our walk.


The walk was on the new surface in Kennedy Park, which we've picked on lately and we teased Commissioner Sarnoff about it, but it actually was a nice surface to walk on and he's a good sport. We all had a chance to ask the doctor anything we had on our mind medically related and we all chatted among ourselves. It was a great way to start the weekend. Free medical advice, free food and drinks and exercise in the bright sunshine along the bay. What's not to like? On top of that we got the political scoop from a local politician.

Next month there will be another Walk With A Doc at the same place and time, we'll announce the date when we know it.
