Vizcaya's best kept secret
The tours depart the Science Museum (3280 S. Miami Avenue), they are from 1 to 3 pm. The walking tours are free, but space is limited. So arrive early.
From their flyer: "You will walk through the lush Vizcaya Maritime Hammock, enjoy the cool splendor of this mostly untouched ecosystem, and experience its vast and important biodiversity. Learn about the vision of Vizcaya's designers, and their plan for habitat preservation - over 100 years ago!Break out of the jungle to see historic Villa Vizcaya itself."
Depending on conditions, people on the tour may collect Mangrove Propagules and pick up trash.Kids are encouraged to attend. When you return to the Science Museum (MiaSci), you will plant the Propagules in the new UPG Nursery at MiaSci.
What to bring: Walking shoes and comfortable clothes, hat and sunglasses, bug spray and sunblock, water bottle or canteen. Optional: (If you plan to go into the Mangroves): spare pair of shoes and socks suitable for wet and muddy conditions.
