Red Dogs and Pink Skies at The Kampong

The Kampong's final concert, in it's successful inaugural season of classical music concerts for children, will be Saturday, May 15 at 1:30 pm featuring “Red Dogs and Pink Skies: A Musical Celebration of Paul Gaugin.” This colorfully evocative musical homage to Paul Gaugin, who said, "Color is the language of the listening eye," is perfectly suited for young audiences of all ages -- bring the older ones along, too!

Red Dogs and Pink Skies, composed by Bruce Adolphe, is a suite of compositions inspired by the life and work of Paul Gaugin. A vivid slide show portraying the artist’s life and paintings will be projected during the show evidencing how Adolphe’s piece beautifully celebrates the relationship of music and art. This is The Kampong’s last concert before summer.

Tickets and seating are limited and by reservation only. Information and tickets are available at the website,
http://kampongevents.ntbg.org, or by calling 305-442-7169.

The music series, co-sponsored by Orchestra Miami and Steinway and Sons, provides a unique opportunity for entire families to enjoy classical music, with concerts tailored specifically for young audiences. The inaugural season was a total success. Every performance was completely sold out. This is the first time the Kampong hosted a concert series for children. The Kids Music Series will resume in the Fall.

“It has been wonderful to watch children, parents and grandparents enjoy the first season of our Kampong Kids Classical Music Series. We have such a unique venue for these concerts – families enjoy an afternoon of music, playing in the garden and connecting with nature in a new way. We’re very pleased to welcome so many new friends to The Kampong and have greatly enjoyed opening our grounds to this wonderful series of concerts.,” said Ann Parsons, Director of The Kampong.

Proceeds from music series are used to support The Kampong living collections and educational programs.
