Never ending noise at construction site
The new Residences at Vizcaya (known as the Hiawatha Project), which is a new condo project, actually having nothing to do with Vizcaya and is blocks from Vizcaya, are turning out to be terrible neighbors and they haven't even opened their doors yet.
They haven't completed construction yet, and that seems to be the problem. According to complaints they work all hours with no regard to the neighborhood or noise regulations. At the crack of dawn on mornings, including weekends, it is not uncommon to hear constant banging or the non-stop beep of heavy machinery backing up, which seems endless.
They are across the water from Grove Isle, which you would think would be a buffer, but many complaints come from Grove Isle about the early morning noise. The acoustics of the water seem to bring the sound even louder to them.
The new construction project blocks traffic on South Bayshore Drive every so often for some sort of job where they have to dig up the street. They seem to have to dig up the street often. One project took three weeks, closing one lane of traffic at crucial times, making rush hour a nightmare morning and night. And don't even get us started on the roach coach/lunch truck who arrives at all odd hours, announcing his arrival with non-stop horn beeping.
We tried reaching them on more than one occasion but were left on hold or our emails were just ignored. This is the project that the Beacon Harbour folks, next door, gushed over despite the complaints of the rest of the neighborhood. Well, now they got what they gushed for. We called it in 2006.
