Is the new City Hall rule affecting the relationship between the Village Council and neighbors?

Patrick Sessions, Chairman of the Cocoanut Village Council, sent out a letter today regarding the Village Council and the neighbors who feel the Council is not representing them.

He explains in the letter that the Council is indeed there for the neighborhoods and their issues and he explains that a new rule at City Hall prevents the Village Council from meeting at City Hall more than once a year. This is the new rule for all groups wishing to meet there. Once a year. Interesting turn of events.

Since the Village Council has only been permitted one time to meet at City Hall since last November (that was last month's meeting), they have not been on television or internet, which allowed the neighbors to be engaged while not actually attending meetings.

Patrick's letter may be read
here.

We have contacted District Commissioner Marc Sarnoff's office on this issue and will post his response and take on the issue once we have it.
