The All Star Circus is coming to Coconut Grove

supernova
Coconut Grove is the place to be this Fourth of July weekend. Along with the fireworks and picnic at The Barnacle and hot dog eating contest and lechon cookoff and coconut scavenger hunt on the 4th, there is a free circus coming to town on July 2 and 3. (We'll post the whole July 4th line up as the date gets closer).

Grand Avenue (near the Mary Street end) will become a Busker's Carnival called Cirque Du Grove featuring Supernova. This 24 hour event put on by the All Star Circus will feature fire performers, acrobats, tight rope walkers, aerialists, trapeeze artists, jugglers, stiltwalkers and more will take over the closed street, all courtesy of the Coconut Grove BID (Business Improvement District).

All this starts on Friday night, July 2 and continues throughout the whole evening.

On Saturday, July 3, the first show starts in the morning, with featured performers including famed wire walker Will Soto from Mallory Square in Key West, ex-Cirque du Soleil Hand Balancer Cory Tabino and the entire Rainbow Circus who will be performing on a free standing aerial rig and static trapeze, hoop and silks.

Magicians, face painters, balloon artists, stiltwalkers and more will envelope the area. This is all day until 7 pm when it eases into the more tame Gallery Walk for the rest of the evening, which of course leads into July 4th the next day.

If you're not in Coconut Grove this July 4th weekend, you may be missing a spectacular All-American weekend. All the Grove hotels have special packages, so it may just be the place to be. Get your reservations in early, you'll want to be high up facing the water for when the fireworks start, right off Peacock Park!
