The big sweep

It looks like everybody is closed, but the problem is that they are all open for business. The City's Code Enforcement department came through and swept the streets clean. All signs, clothing and toy racks, sale signs and even restaurant sandwich boards with specials have been removed.

You can see above that even the sign at Tula and Tupi had to be removed -- their actual store sign. This sign at Aladdin's Grill also was removed from the sidwalk. What next, the tables?

Many businesses say that people think they are closed now. We were told by merchants that the City wants the Grove to look like Coral Gables or Bal Harbour, but Coral Gables and Bal Harbour actually allow their businesses to flourish; signs and racks and other items can be see there. Here, not so much.

What little life we have on the streets has been swept away. Makes you wonder if the City wants the businesses to be successful or just die off. What is the point of redirecting traffic to accommodate Main Highway when there is nothing on Main Highway to see now?

And The Grove Shop on Fuller Street, is not The Grove Shop without all the tchochkes all over the place. Looks like Code Enforcement forgot one thing at The Grove Shop -- the welcome mat is still out on the sidewalk.
