Successful first Merchants Meeting of the new year
The Merchants Group had their first meeting of the year this morning, three of our favorites conducted the meeting, from left Daisy Lewis, Steve Licata and Felice Dubin.
The signature Grove events were discussed, like The Great Grove Bed Race, which is September 5, this year. The committee for that will start meeting next week. The July 4th events were discussed, there will be a Coconut Scavenger Hunt and Hot Dog Eating Contest again, just like last year and of course there are other events planned like the Lechon Cook-off, all culminating with the fireworks and bands at Peacock Park.
The Chamber is running July 4th, the Merchants Group is in charge of The Great Grove Bedrace.
Mother's Day was on the agenda. It isn't a done deal, but the idea is to have lots of flower vendors all over the Grove for the weekend of Mother's Day. So you would just walk around and see lots of flowers for sale everywhere. Even the Black Information Booths were thought to be a good location, remember this graphic we ran awhile back?
The time of the Merchants Meetings may change to a later time so that more people may be able to attend. We'll post that info here before the next meeting.
