Wine lovers rejoice; La Bottega has rare finds

Tomorrow, January 14, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm, La Bottega (3540 Main Highway) is having a wine tasting.

Featured are:

2006 Sierra Madre Pinot Noir, this is a beautiful black cherry flavored Pinot with earthy aromas.
2007 Sierra Madre Chardonnay, this is what Chardonnay should taste like. Tropical fruit and citrus flavors with hints of minerality.
The Monkey Business wines, made by famed winemaker Susan Selby:
Monkey Business North Coast Pinot Noir; Monkey Business North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon; Monkey Business California Merlot.

As customary, an array of cheeses, meats and breads will accompany the wines. Tasting is $20.00 per person. Rsvp: 305-444-3493

And Henry Barrow, wine director, has been able to obtain some wines from Scholium Project, a winery that makes no more than 429 cases of each of their wines. However, the ones he has selected are of much smaller production.

The first wine available to you is a 2008 Farina Vineyards “La Severita de Bruto” for $49.99.
This fantastic Sauvignon Blanc has powerful fruit and aromatics, excellent minerality, and great length -- only 163 cases made.

The second wine is Riquewihr Vineyards Gewürztraminer for $33.99. It comes in a 500 ml. bottle, with intense fruit and exotic flavors. Highly recommended with 264 cases made.

The third wine is a 2007 Gardens of Babylon for $39.99 per bottle, with only 150 cases made. This intense, polished and elegant red is made from Petite Sirah, Syrah, and Malvasia Nera. Fire up the grill and lay on the thick slabs of beef for this one (Henry recommends a delicious Rib-eye).

They also have secured 6 bottles of 2005 Black Coyote Reserve Cabernet available for their members to purchase on a first come, first serve basis for $92.99. This is the wine that won the Key Biscayne wine judging out of 23 small production wines.
