"The Money Pit" featured at "Viewing Vizcaya"

The Money Pit is the next film in Vizcaya's "Viewing Vizcaya" film series. The Money Pit is the 1986 film staring Tom Hanks and Shelley Long. Love the inside joke regarding Vizcaya and it's non-stop renovations and upkeep.

The film will be shown tonight, January 20, at 7:00 pm. It's $15.00 per person. Doors open at 6:00.

Vizcaya Museum and Gardens is at 3251 S. Miami Avenue. For info: 305-250-9133

I think Miami should also be known as "The Money Pit"

The in joke is a cute touch but frankly, I don't see how a rather unexceptional film should command a $15.00 admission.

If I may be so bold as to make a suggestion, how about next time they show Able Gance's brilliant silent Film, Napoleon, restored by Francis Ford Coppola.

Add a live orchestra, and then they could charge upwards of $50 per person. Throw in a cocktail reception, and they could even charge more. its a fundraiser. Every time Napoleon has been shown, it is a true event.

If Napoleon is hard to come by, any epic or classic will do. Unfortunately Money Pit is not among them.

The money Pit was partially filmed at Viscaya, that is one of the reasons it made the pick...It may be unexceptional but sometimes it is good to just have a sense of humor and not take everything so darn seriously.

Actually, next months feature is a silent film and it is accompanied by the house organ being plaid live by a world renowned Organist. That will be a special treat!

This is a beautiful event at an exceptional venue, surely you must realize you pay for more than a movie?

I went last night and think it was not only well worth the price, it was a bargain to be in such a gem of place with a great crowd of people - having a few laughs for a change.

Gee, Atena, my observation that Money Pit is unexceptional (regardless of where it was shot) and making a suggestion for a future film in the series is hardly "taking everything so darn seriously."

It is taking an interest in the matter and offering an opinion, just as you have done.
