Harassing the helicopter service
Something on the agenda at the next Waterfront Implementation Committee meeting and the Waterfront Advisory Board meeting, is the Helicopters Over Miami business, which we wrote about here.
There are those against it and we are not sure why. The FAA apparently has permitted the service and so far, so good, there has not been any problems. But it seems that every time the Grove gets something that people like, someone steps in and tries to put the kibosh on it. Why? Perhaps we are not seeing what the problems may be. And perhaps the service does not belong in the Bay right off the Grove's shores?
The Waterfront Advisory Board meets Tuesday, January 12 at 6:30 pm at Miami City Hall (3500 Pan American Drive).
The Implementation Committee meeting is Wednesday, January 13 at the Ransom Everglades campus (3575 Main Highway) at 5:30 pm.

It's probably the same old naysayers who demanded a hearing before the commission about potential future noise from 3484 Main Highway, which was then and still is now, unoccupied.
They protest noise from restaurants that don't even exist - do you understand the level of crazy at play here?
I wonder, does the opposition have anything to do with creating gusts in the water? Might not be very pleasant for small sail craft, kayaking or marine life. But I am just guessing.
I'm not a fan of the police/news choppers that do flyovers every time there's an accident on US 1, but I had no idea we even had a chopper service here. Have to say, it sounds kinda cool.
I think a helicopter place would be great for the Grove.. brings in more people and I wouldn't mind impressing my visiting friends with a nice little flight within walking distance from my home.
Well, I for one HATE having roving chopters over head. It's as if we're living in a police state.
