Bombay Darbar holds grand opening party

bombay1
Bombay Darbar Indian Restaurant (3195 Commodore Plaza) held it's grand opening party on Saturday night and right after, guests were treated to 50% off on dinner. Above, Danny, co-owner with Nan, takes orders from hungry customers.

They definitely have some work to do. Besides the tastless Lamb dish and the undercooked "honey garlic shrimp" that I had Saturday, everything else was ok. The Chicken Tikka ws good. . But I think they believe that serving a meat dish on the sizzling grill of onions/peppers will give the meat flavor - SEASONING is KEY! the staff seemed totally overwhelmed when taking and serving dishes. My appetizers came way after the main course..but I wish them Luck!

It seems to me that the experience of bryan is similar to many, which take place here in the Grove, and perhaps all of south Florida. Similar to locals up north.

Be it hotels, tradesmen, car repair, buliding management firms,
or most politicians.

Lots of promises, NO performance!
Pay in cash - no checks - why?

And guess what - cheat or be cheated. If you dont get caught in Miami, it is OK.

Signed,

The Mad Russian

From the looks itself, I certainly would not go in. The place looks bare bones, decorated in a very unispiring manner and amateurish. Certainly not the place I would go for any sort of special or semi-special or even semi-semi-special ocassion

I tried their food on King Mango Parade day, the Chicken Tika Masala was heavenly and the rice had a beautiful aroma.

Wow - seems that everybody who never went into the restaurant has something negative at say about it !! Myself and 3 others called up a week ago, got 8 pm reservations, and they had the table waiting for us at 8:00. We all found the food was superb - on par with the previous Indian restaurant and equal to Mint Leaf in the Gables. Of course they were overwhelmed - by all the people who came for 50% off. They tried to accommodate as many as possible. You want fast food - go to Mcdonalds - you want a better decor - go to Mint leaf and pay twice as much. You guys really want another empty space in the grove again ? The last 3 negative comments- NOT REVIEWS - were from people WHO DID NOT EAT there!. Shame on you !! And yes, we even had the small limited menu on the day of the King Mango Strut - and it was great! It is what the grove needs - more moderately priced great food restaurants - not another flashy Cristabellas Quarters or whatever it is going to be next year when the Ivy goes out of business. I wish Bombay Dunbar lots of luck.

to anon at 6:03 . What the hell are you writing about you ? Somehow you go from a restaurant criticism to paronia - seems like ADD/ADHD to me.

JKH,
Most of the bad reviews are from competitors. They are shaking in their socks at the news of young and energetic folks opening a new outfit in the Grove. Bombay Darbar will succeed.

I'm a resident here in the Grove and just had the BEST chicken Tikka marsala I've ever had!
Some of you Grovites are complete assholes. These nice people just reached deep down in their pockets to invest in this community and you pounce on them like jackels.
How many of you wannabe critics actually ever tried to open up a business of your own?
It takes TIME to work out the kinks. There's a disgusting element here in the grove that loves to attack local businesses, often without merit.
Why anyone would open up a restaurant here is beyond me when we have morons like ehrul, anon 6:17pm, Mad Russian etc.
I can promise you those losers never went out on a limb in their lives.
They're just douche bags who like to throw stones.
I loved the food and I'll be there again very soon.
Good luck neighbors, don't let a few jerks discourage you.

"Blown Away" is the early front runner for "Comment of the Year" in my book. Classic Grove residents hating on a place for service because it was packed due to a 50% discount offering. Reminds me of Sekai offering free food in the Grove and then everyone bitching that it was mobbed when they went for their handout.

Their food was really good on the king parade day so we came back for more, there were some leaves near the front door but that`s ok as we were very satisfied by the excellent chicken dish with pink sauce and the service was also great, we will be back again, best of luck Bombay Dunbar team.
