Baleen's named a "Best Kept Secret"
JetBlue has claimed Baleen's to be Miami's Most Romantic Hideaway.
They describe it as one of Miami's "Best Kept Secrets" and go on to say Baleen's "serves up mouth-watering culinary wonders along with tropical breezes, first-class service, and a heaping helping of romance."
We're wondering what other Grove location could be considered a "Best Kept Secret."

Haven't they recently renovated and renamed the restaurant?
The Barnacle is another Best Kept Secret.
Too good of a secret. As a nearly decade long grovite, I've never heard of it.
@Lennox Yes, they have recently renovated and the restaurant is now called Gibraltar. However, I noticed that their website does not reflect this information...
They removed the wall behind the bar and it opened up an entire dining room with water views. It's very nice!

Gibraltar opens at Grove Isle
Gibraltar at the Grove Isle Hotel and Spa has opened in the renovated Baleen space under executive chef Jeff O'Neill, former Mar-a-Lago Club executive chef and Donald Trump family chef, whose resume also includes New York's Aureole, Restaurant Daniel and Le Bernardin.
An announcement describes the menu as contemporary American, with such entrees ($23-$39) as Florida striped bass with black olive farro and preserved lemon in a sun-dried tomato vinaigrette; pan-roasted guinea hen with braised greens, Italian bacon and golden raisin pan sauce and mustard-seed-crusted smoked salmon loin with sweet corn beignets. Desserts include the Key lime pie with salted graham crust, rated one of ``Oprah Winfrey's All-Time Favorite Recipes'' after O'Neill made it on her show. Gibralter is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily; 305-857-5007.
My Best Kept Secret is the Panorama restaurant & Sky lounge on the eighth floor of the Sonesta Bayfront Hotel-Condo. Voted best taste of the Grove 08 &09. Small and warm, by far the Best views in Coconut Grove, so try to visit before sunset. Food is wonderful, service is friendly but could be alittle slow. So just relax and enjoy the View. Another glass of wine please....
@Anon 10:11 Grove Isle is more of a resort that targets high-end clientele. They have a spa, residences on the island, and Baleen/Gibraltar is the restaurant inside the hotel. Although Baleen is open to the public, you have to pass through a security gate & your picture is taken. Lunch or Sushi Thursday's at the bar might be the way to check it out before dropping a couple hundred for dinner.
I love Baleen/Gibraltar is beautiful and the food excellent! However, I rather go to Panorama's love the view and the staff is super friendly, great food, not to mention that you get complimentary valet parking...
Miami Herald voted The Mutiny Hotel among "Best Kept Secrets in Miami" - we came in 2nd for Hotels. #1 was in the Keys, so, technically... ';)
