Please don't cry for the Miami Parking Authority

Someone was concerned that I was cheating the Miami Parking Authority (MPA) by taking advantage of their one hour grace period. Don't worry about the MPA, they will still scam the public any chance they get.

They raised the rates to 1.50 per hour, for a quarter you get a 10 minutes. That's the MPA's true colors. The one hour grace period is just something they do to make themselves look good, they should be illegal, how in hell can an entity just come in and say, "You want to park on the streets that your tax dollars pay for, well you have to pay us more to park there, your tax dollars are not enough?"

The MPA makes it's money back at night when they scam you into paying for parking you don't want. Like I needed to drop something off at Mayfair the other night, I wanted to run in and out. I put a quarter into the meter. The meter would not accept it. I put in a dollar, the meter would not accept it. I was forced to put in $2.00 for the four hours you get for that. After 6 pm, you get four hours worth of parking for $2.00 -- whether you want it or not.

I didn't want it. I wanted 10 minutes for a quarter. Now that I think of it, I should have not put any money in, I should have run in and out and no one would have been the wiser. So for those who feel that the one hour grace period is taking advantage of the MPA, please, don't lose any sleep over it. They are still screwing us but we may not realize it. Their plan is working.

If MPA admits to the grace period, you are not taking advantage of anyone. In fact, it is the other way around. If the citizens parking knew about the grace period, less people would run back to their cars and put in another dollar or the minimum $1.50 through credit card, for 10 more minutes of parking.

Only in a movie script! A person comes out and finds they have 23 minutes left and sit in their car as some stupid duck sits on their horn. Move on!
