Neighbors express concerns at Town Meeting
Some items discussed were: Marjorie Stoneman Douglas mini-park getting a rubberized surface sometime in the immediate future; street resurfacing will begin soon and is scheduled to be completed by Christmas.
An open air gym has been installed at Kennedy Park and putting down a softer padded surface on the walking/running trail is being looked at.
Neighbors complained about the underground garage at the Sonesta Hotel, claiming it is a dangerous place and people also complained about being overcharged for parking. The company Elite Car Rental continues to operate late into the night. The noise is disturbing neighbors.
A continuous sidewalk was requested along Aviation, so that pedestrians can safely get to Tigertail and Bayshore. Dog waste at Kennedy Park continues to be an irritant to parents of young children. Pet owners do not always collect their dogs waste, and much of it sits outside of the gated doggie area, where children play.
What to do with the Glass House at Peacock Park is of interest to residents who feel the Grove needs an activity place for children and seniors. There is a growing concern that the City may choose to act arbitrarily and not seek the input from the community before deciding on the fate of the Glass House.
