Promoting the Oliver way
I use him and others use him a lot, too. He mostly hands out cards for the shoe store across the street, but I think it would be a great idea to start using him for many of our Grove events.
It was brought up at a recent meeting, that it would have been a good idea to promote upcoming events at events we are doing at the moment, for instance, did anyone promote the Block Parties or the Mad Hatter or Halloween during the Great Grove Bed Race, when we had 10,000 people lining the streets?
Restaurants might consider handing out cards with future specials, you know, things to bring people back with even a coupon.
Oliver actually targets his audience. He doesn't give ladies shoe ads to men, he doesn't give children's clothing ads to college guys. It might be a good idea to try Oliver's services out for any type of business or event in the Grove.
You may reach Oliver here: 786-879-5922.
And by the way, most of the flyer cards come from Brian Bishop.

Grape, Thanks, I was looking for this service, so I'll give him a call.
At one time there were a lot of complaints about this sort of postcards ending up on the sidewalks and making our streets look trashy. It sounds from what you say like Oliver is more responsible, and presumably his postcards aren't being thrown on the ground? If so, hats off to Oliver!
Maybe if there were recycling bins there would be less trash on the streets.
The only flyer cards I ever see on the floor are the ones left on the cars. If people don't want to take the flyers from Oliver they don't.
That palm reader on Commodore and some spa in South Miami or Gables put flyers on the cars daily. The palm reader (at the old flower shop next to Greenstreet) is the biggest culprit for litter.
Nice skate board, friendly looking kid, lets help him earn some honest money.
My wife recently visited Finland and upon seeing these comments told me that at all major grocery stores there are bins outside, colorful clean, nice and neat bins where you place glass, plastic, cardboard, paper & batteries. Seems like a BID project that would have a positive impression on locals as well as visitors.
I don't think any bar or restaurant in the grove recycles come to think of it. Pretty sad, considering the kind of community we all apparently WANT or CLAIM to be.
if you see some of this cards all over the floor believe theyre not mine because i use to pick them up as soon as i see them there in order to give to people who really use it.
