True Grove spirit!
so the bunch from Refresh Miami showed up tonight only to be turned away.
They had a long-standing once-a-month meeting at the hotel the last Wednesday of each month. Ironically, AnnaMaria Windisch-Hunt usually goes to the Mac Group Meetup on the last Wednesday of the month at the Science Museum, but Brian Breslin, head of Refresh Miami, personally invited AnnaMaria to Refresh Miami earlier in the week, so she showed up at the Hotel.
Because of that, she was able to save the day and the whole troupe (over 100 Refreshers) headed down to the Windisch-Hunt Gallery to conduct the monthly meeting -- all at a
moment's notice.
That's the way it is in the Grove, or should be anyway. True Grove spirit.

Yay Annamaria and #refreshmiami. Hope Irina has all this on camera ;-)
yes she filmed all the presentation
Way to go Anna Maria.... Hey, where you gettin' all that energy?
I really need to get to one of these. Brian seems like he is doing a great job.
I really can't thank AnnaMaria enough. She saved our butts. She has an amazing gallery right in center grove, and opened her space to us without hesitation.
truly a class act. Everyone from refreshmiami is very appreciative of her help.
This lady is a class act. This became obvious after talking with her several times. Down to earth, easy going, straight-forward and dedicated to fine art.
That's the way AnnaMaria rolls. So many great Grove events happen in the gallery, that are not art-related.
Yeah Anna-Marie saves the day! Any chance you want to take over responsibilities for the Mango Strut???
Just think if the Glass House ever became a community center the meetings could be there. Boo to the Hotel in the Grove. That's stinky to turn away so many people - especially when many are locals and would recommend the place to visitors.
It was an odd thing to do in face of so many people gathered at the front desk. True the two young women had no authority. However there was a manager on duty who just ignored the crowd. I walked to the dining area which was closed/empty, It could have accommodated everyone. Pool side, also was an option as was the bar/lounge area which also was empty. So much for wanting to be THE Hotel in the Grove.
What they missed here is the fact they had an ongoing event and these young people were all to learn how to protect their intellectual property rights. A future google exec or yahoo exec or facebook exec a talent pool not to ignor.
Hotel management with this kind of attitude will be the death of the hotel. The hospitality industry competes for conventions, meetings, expos, anything that is a sure draw of a number of people. Restaurants court the service clubs so they'll have regularly scheduled meetings in their establishments. This hotel will be bankrupt within two years if management doesn't catch a clue.
