Regalado pledges to cut mayor's pay raise

City Commissioner Tomás Regalado, who is running for mayor, has said his first act if elected as mayor is to cut the mayor's pay-raise of $53,000. The increase was passed in a late-night session through the efforts of former City Administrator Joe Arriola.

"It's a moral decision, given that Miami is still one of the poorest cities in the United States, and the city's income is some of the lowest in the nation," Regalado said.

"Moreover when the City Financial Office is announcing a hiring freeze and told salaried employees they can no longer take compensation days for working more than 40-hour shifts."

Now if he could only do something about pensions. Many people feel that elected officials should not receive pensions.

Between him supporting Sanchez on the pension killer for elected officials and him actually cutting his own salary I like Regalado.
Whenever Sanchez would say that "we need to feel the pain" I can only roll my eyes.
This is a good thing.

Regalado has been stating all year that if elected he will restore the Mayor's salary to $100,000. The Mayor's salary was only raised because of a middle-of-the-night not-on-the Agenda scam organized by Manny's two business partners Johnny Winton and Joe Arriola.

Joe Sanchez. Is he all talk and no action?

How can it be that blogs in favor or in the defense of Sanchez do not get posted? I have heard from several people that their blogs are not getting thru. Case in point. Look at all of the previous 3 comments above. All are under "Anonymous". In all fairness to Grape, it must be a daunting task to keep up with the daily news, investigative research and blog screening. Perhaps someone else on staff is not posting these comments? Equanimity please!!

Because Joe's people have been spamming this all day. Anonymously. And the comments have nothing to do with the subject. No more anonymous comments and stupid comments off subject are deleted.
