BID news and my views

The BID is good at keeping me out of the loop, I missed the Block Party meeting today because they conveniently leave me out of the emails, but this one I got from a few people:

There will be a BID meeting this Thursday from 11 am to 1 pm at the Hotel in the Grove (formerly the DoubleTree), 2649 S. Bayshore Drive. It's open to the public. See you there,
in the Ballroom. This may be on the agenda.

As for the Block Party, I have no news, so I won't report on it. Guess they don't need me to report that. Guess they have it all handled. I did bring in 40% of the crowd for the Pajama Pub Crawl and probably more than 40% for the last series of Block Parties. And I know many of you keep checking back with us for the news on the Block Party, but they prefer news black outs on that it seems (and many other things).

The Herald had it all wrong last week and probably will have it all wrong in the future, but that's how they are marketing the thing these days -- secretly and with no or wrong information.

I am not going to report via hearsay anymore on these things. If I don't get the news first hand, it isn't going to appear here, that or any other event. You want free non-stop coverage from me? then have the common courtesy to put me on the meeting email list so I don't have to stumble into a meeting by accident. Or maybe the Grapevine readers don't count. Is that it? Maybe none of you count, Guys. That seems to be the case here. Maybe all of the Grapevine readers should find something else to do on Saturday nights if and whenever the Block Party returns.

Maybe I should give myself the Sour Grapes Award this week. I think I will.

Grape, surely you "understand" you have been stepping on a few toes lately-----I do it all the time purposefully, to obtain value, free press, play the game/poker and have liens on my home, but I knew this would be "their" tack against me; attack my homestead. You are slowly and purposefully being downsized, left out of the loop, kept officially uninformed. Better speed up efforts to gain financial support with advertisers.
City Hall, Pan American Dr. is just over the ridge and taxpayers are ready to do battle. Perhaps you might consider getting off the wall for a while.

As a part time resident, (but here more and more),
it seems that the "Vine"
has evolved into a defensive publication.
I dont blame you, considering all of the AHs in the Grove.
But please, reclaim the balls you had in the beginning which made your publication really good.

Tom, it sounds like you needed to vent. And you did. But, as we say in Spanish, no le des la importancia. Keep up what you are doing. TC.

No, they read me loud and clear now. We are buds. I just needed to vent, they heard me and they got the message.

Good for you Tom! As the song goes, what we have hear is a failure to communicate!! I am glad you had the guts to address this with them instead of bottling up and stewing. You put a lot of hard work into the grapevine and in raising awareness about the good, the bad and the ugly in the community. Bravo, TC.

10:42 PM and 9:44 AM, I don't know the truth of that matter, but you two do realize that those two facts are not mutually exclusive, right?

c'mon, ya got one, use it. It can do more than hold hats.

I do know this: a claim of ignorance of the facts, makes him a poor chair, and a lie makes him unfit. No good way out here.

Sunbiz is free easy and takes 2 seconds. For noone at BID to have checked it before approving this is a failure of the simplest and least due diligence.

you should bring up the 55 comments from former blog post so that everyone is clear what the issue is at this juncture.

Would someone be specific. Where is proof David Collins ever stated or wrote he did not know Marshall?

Mr. David Collins is overly qualified and educated & trained to obtain public funds from numerous government organizations. Creating a BID is no easy task and numerous documents must be submitted to numerous jurisdictions. Mr. Collins has traveled extensively obtaining grants & public funds and is more than qualified to disperse BID monies collected from the Grove Village merchants and citizens. It is no easy task to disperse these sums of monies.

dave is overqualified for the position hes holing and has for years pushed to make the grove a destination. him and a handfull of others started the murchant group and BID when many knew not of those words or how to organize that. if any of the annonymous writers read sunbiz themselves they would see marshall is not listed on there. give the man time to work, no one complained when they had no bid and the city took all there money now give the BID time to work.
