They get nasty when they're drunk
Some of the bar crawlers from the Crawl for Cancer yesterday were down right nasty. This group here was in a foul mood, they are giving me the hand here, was the finger next? I don't know, I didn't stick around to find out. They were coming from CocoWalk, so maybe Crazy Pianos pissed them off. Could be.
I ended up at the Sandbar and then Mr. Moe's. These other groups at Moe's were in the spirit of the thing, but then again they were at Moe's, how can you be moody there?
It was all for a good cause, so the winner was the American Cancer Society after all.

A very long time ago I heard that children and drunks tell the truth. If this is how they manifest their true behavior making faces and giving fingers sticking out tungs they have truly not grown up from being what they truly are, children.
There is a theory that stress contributes to causing cancer. So perhaps the first step to a cure is to lose the anger and chill. Looks like that was happening at Moe's!
Here we have yet another example of truth misconstrued and irresponsible blogging. As the photo clearly demonstrates, no one was making an obscene gesture. There are four fingers which punctuate the number of times that our group tried to ask a strange man (who ran up alongside us, barking at us to let him snap a photo) to properly identify himself and state his purpose. Since he failed to do so, we turned to wisdom that we all learned as children: Don't talk to strangers.
And this strange man actually held out bright red business cards, which is case with everyone I ask to take a photo of, and said as I say to everyone, "Who would like to be in the Coconut Grove Grapevine?"
As you can see, the happy people on Commmodore Plaza at Mr. Moe's all said yes, smiled and enjoyed the day.
These others in the first group were a bunch of rude people. I do have to confirm that when I asked why everyone was being rude, one guy said, "We are all drunk, leave us alone." With that I walked away, thinking "What a group of miserable people."
But I had promised to get photos to help promote the cause, so I went on to Sandbar and Mr. Moe's, where I found happy people.
I dont think it makes someone rude or a jerk if they dont want a stranger taking their picture and posting it on the internet, regardless of whether that stranger identifies himself or not. When I met Carlos Miller, he asked if I wanted to be photographed and I said Id prefer not to be which he respected and we went on to chat for awhile at a charity walk. Just sayin'.
Yeah, I'm gonna side with privacy and the right not to be invaded by yet another random (sorry, Tom, bu you are to most) on the streets of the grove. You can't walk one block in the grove without being accosted by the "repetitive street rapper", the 80 cents guy, and a litany of Grove hustlers, beggers and con artists. So, I'm not surprised that a group didn't want to stop and take you cards or have their pic taken.
Don't be so easily offended, not everyone knows the grapevine.
It's rude to walk up to someone and take an up close picture without permission.
Legal? yes, but still rude.
That's why I handed them bright red business cards. I was asked by the American Cancer Society to get the story since it was a charity event.
I won't do it again. I am again, the bad guy here.
Nice, I asked first. Do you see the other people posing for the photos? They acutally turne around posed and I took three or four photos of each group and then chose the best one. I didn't walk up to someone and stick a camera in their faces.
The repetitive street rapper is pretty hilarious.
The rapper makes me laugh. And he doesn't ask for money which is ALWAYS appreciated. But it is a mission sometimes to get down the road in the Grove with a little peace. But I still appreciate you Grape!
