Meeting to discuss FPL's transmission lines
Tomorrow, Tuesday August 11, State Representative Carlos Lopez-Cantera will hold a meeting between local, municipal officials and community leaders and officials from Florida Power & Light to discuss the proposed placement of transmission lines by FPL along US1.
The meeting it at the Coconut Grove Sailing Club (2990 S. Bayshore Drive) at 1 pm.
Currently, FPL has proposed four new transmission lines originating from their Turkey Point facility, with one transmission line expected to border a portion of US1 extending from Palmetto Bay to downtown Miami.
At the meeting officials from FPL are expected to discuss corridor selection criteria and considerations such as alternate corridors, underground placement of the lines, funding mechanisms and costs.
