Help feed the poor in our community

In these hard economic times, one of the charitable organizations that has taken a major hit is the Soup Kitchen in Village West, run by the Greater St. Paul Church (3680 Thomas Avenue).

Once a week, they feed whomever shows up, sometimes up to 80 meals. They take about 50 meals to the homes of the sick and elderly in the community, too.

The church has usually picked up the cost ($140.00 to $160.00 per week), but now they need a little help raising funds for the program.

Please consider a one-time contribution, maybe funding them for a month or a week. They do stretch the money and make it go a long way.

The emphasis on this really is the fact that people in our own backyards are really struggling. A lot of us give to charities that work in other cities, countries, continents, but sometimes forget that we can make a difference here at home too. This is a terrific organization that has kept its overhead costs extremely low while benefiting many. They are able to feed each person for about $1.15/meal, which is extremely impressive.

Thanks for helping out,

Stephen
