Discount parking for residents?

Miami Beach now has a special discounted parking rate for residents called iPark. Their PDF guide is here. We need this in the Grove.

I think we need to ask Governor Crist to communicate with God to help with Coconut Grove parking problems: http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5ikJo8enyxaa38tqIZDOjWr-Gb75AD9A7DSTO0 :))))

We don't need this...It would cost too much and add more headaches. The way to give residents better parking deals is to have them call a phone number like how you would call to replenish your minutes now. This number, though, is for residents only and would have an initial set up just like the phone number we have now. It would cost less for residents with maybe free times throughout the day. That little gadget seems like a waste of time and money.

As much as I like to raise hell here on ocasion, I don't have ANY parking problems, as a Grove resident for over 4 years. I walk everywhere, or bike, or drive&park to CVS or Publix or across the street to the Fresh Market. ZERO parking problems. Ever.

For visitors, it may be otherwise. Sure, things could be improved. CI

CI,
Where is the Publix in the grove at? And where is there parking across from Fresh Market?

Anon @ 3:26am.

You know where Publix is, too far away from you? The Fresh Market has AMPLE Free parking at all times. I live across the street so I walk, but if you must drive, there never a parking problem there. Some people are just lazy and complain too much. Walk there, it'll do you good, I like to climb 6 flights of stairs with my grocery bags. CI

I never have a problem parking in the Grove. Always seems to be a spot somewhere. Off of Grand Avenue on the side streets, there is always plenty of free parking that is close to walk to the central business area. And I've never had a problem with my car being broken into in the Grove and drive a nice car. Parking here is way better and cheaper than it is in Seattle and many other cities.

The anon people commenting and CI certainly must be in the Grove at 7am and then they do not have a problem wih parking. For the rest of us Groveites we all know the problems and we have come up with solutions. All we nned to do know is get the solutions implemented.

There is plenty of garage and lot parking in the Grove. You just have to be willing to walk a few blocks.

The grovites should be walking or riding a bike or skateboard, not needing special parking. It's not that big of a neighborhood. I only drive in when it's raining or just too hot to move.

Ya know what would be a good idea though, a small area with marked motorcycle/scooter parking to encourage more of that and keep these vehicles from taking up full sized spaces, as we are often forced to. The beach has 'em, the keys have 'em everywhere, Key biscayne - let's encourage it and provide for it.

I just visited Key West over the weekend. We have lots to learn here in the Grove about walking, biking and taking a bus/trolley to get around. Key West is very much similar to the Grove concept.. We should convert some of our old houses (which are unique) into some internet cafes, markets, stores, art galleries, antique stores. We have the waterfront but not too many restaurants on the water? This is a great concept and obviously it works. Key West weather is way hotter than Miami's for some reason and we walked a lot.. drank lots of water and did exercise.

In addition regarding the Keys: The scooters are a big hit with special parking on the street for bikes and scooters.. This will truly bring people into the Grove to shop, dine and stay at our hotels...
