We've got a lovely bunch of coconuts . . .
Despite there being some confusion as to whether there was a coconut painting party last night or not, there was. As you can see a nice group came out. People came and went all night so there must have been about 30 to 35 in all, which was the perfect size.
I had forgotten how many creative people we had in the Grove.
Here are some of the creations, the golden coconut, in the center, is the one that must be found during the scavanger hunt to win the best prize.
As you know, all the coconuts will be used on the 4th of July in our Coconut Scavenger Hunt. Here Naomi Evans made a really sweet yellow coconut wearing a polka dotted bikini. Joe Harrison's in the center looks bare, but he was very creative as you'll see below. Ali Moztarzadeh had an eclectic style -- many images on one coconut -- very colorful.
Again, we were amazed at all the talent that was produced.
Here's our favorite -- the flamingo coconut done by Joe. This one was so good, it was removed from the contest and you'll see it in the gallery's front window, twirling under the hot lights on the lazy susan, basking in the place of honor.
Jerry Wade and I ran out for pizza and drinks. Here he is at Boardwalk Pizza ordering the pizza. There was also wine at the gallery already.
It was a fun night, people came and went, Liliana Dones showed up and Sue McConnell did some great painting and David Guzikowski from the Chamber was there. We all had a fun time.
Gigi Leyva did a lot of painting, she brought her daughters and they brought friends and the kids had a ball painting and eating.
You can be a part of it again if you like, we'll have another coconut painting party coming up soon. I'll announce it here. Some people read about it in the Grapevine and just showed up, they really enjoyed themselves and even enjoyed seeing a lot of the Grove characters in person, the people I write about here daily.
