Grapevine to be featured in a new book
Of all the stories and all the beautiful photos in the Grapevine, McGraw-Hill chose this one, this exact screen shot, to be used in a book they are publishing. They asked for my permission and sent a small stipend.
This shot will be featured in a book called "Race, Crime and the Media."
Any publicity is great publicity, but it would be so great if they used pictures in books on the Art Strolls or King Mango Strut or even photos of our waterfront and parks, but I guess just as long as they spell our name right, that's all that matters. That older, pretty masthead will be prominent, so that's good, it shows the Grove off well.

This is great! You deserve your own book, too! This is one of the best blogs out there.
Grape, this is great. Keep up the good work. You deserve the attention.
Umm, Grape, the book is titled "Race, Crime, and Media" and they want to use a page about the African-American kids asking for subscriptions. The author may not have a favorable view of how the blog/commentators discussed/reacted to this issue.
Have you asked to see the proofs? This may not put the Grove in a good light at all. The author may emphasize problems between the "white" Grove and the "black" Grove.
If the Grove is not seen in a good light, it isn't because of me. I didn't say anything negative, if the commenters did, then the bigots should be exposed. I actually go into the West Village frequently. Do you?
PS, a guy named Ben, the first person to comment brought race into it. All I did was reprint a police report, I had no clue who the magazine people were. I usually publish the Crime Watch police reports and that is what I did here. Here is that post and the comments. Ben, in his rush to be politically correct, is the bigot here.
