Coconut Grove will be a living postcard tomorrow night
Tomorrow is the big Pow Wow night in Coconut Grove. If you haven't heard about it, this is the night when hundreds, maybe thousands, of travel industry people visit the Grove. Travel agents, tour operators, travel writers and such are in town this week for a convention. Tomorrow night is the Grove's turn to show them a good time.
They are mostly based in downtown Miami and in Miami Beach, so large tour buses will be bringing our guests in tomorrow night. Many locals, including myself, will be tour guides on the buses and then "ambassadors" once we arrive in the Grove -- we will show the guests around, answer questions and help them have a fantastic time.
Tomorrow night the Grove will have it all. All of our usual events will be featured in one night! Artists, dancers and musicians will be on the streets, restaurants are offering special meals, the art galleries have special showings. These coconuts here have been prepared and painted all month in anticipation at the Windisch-Hunt Gallery (artist Jane Harris is shown here preparing the window). The Antique Market will be open, Cabana One and the Sonesta pools will offer moonlight swims.
We want to make the Grove into a living postcard. This will be a night to remember. For us and for the travel contingent.

what time will the buses start to arrive?
Sadly it strikes me that all the empty storefronts in Coco Walk and Mayfair will be hard not to see. My son and I were about the only folks in the Grove about noon till one on Saturday, and it seemed like we were the only ones there.
It was kind of depressing.
