Was a nice gesture on their part; next time I'll order early
But I stuck with the breakfast. And I had the corned beef on my mind all day, in fact, since St. Patrick's Day, since I never did get my fix.
So I ended up back at Dirty Deli almost at closing time (4 pm) and they were out! They only had the cabbage. As I was leaving dejected, they called me back to say they found some. I hate to know where.
I left for home happy with my corned beef and cabbage, only when I got home, it was all fat. Tasted good, but all fat.
Lesson learned. Never take the last scrapings, even if you are craving something. They said they will call me next time it's on the menu, and I'll get some fresh food and not wait until the last minute again. But it was really nice of them to go out of their way to accommodate me.
I have been liking the Dirty Deli a lot lately. I don't know if it's a new cook, new management or what, but lots has changed. It's not the place I used to hate. I am saving the photos of the corned beef and cabbage for the next Restaurant Reality Check. I will review the Dirty Deli -- Coral Bagels.

Grapevine, That's a good report but if I were the owner I would be offended by the words "Dirty Deli".
The waiters and waitresses work hard and they need all the business they can get.
I am a big fan of Coral Bagels, and you can find me there either Saturday or Sunday morning pretty much every weekend. No the place isn't the ritz carlton, but you can get a delicious and filling breakfast for under $5.00. The staff is friendly and accomadating, and I find the lack of Miami posh-ness in exchange for quality at a bargain refreshing.
Exactly, Tony. If you like the place, why insult it? Sure, its no Cristabelle's Quarter with chandeliers and swanky furniture, but they do a nice breakfast there at a very affordable price and its been a Grove staple for years. I get 2 eggs scrambled w/ cheese, bacon, homefries, a bagel, and an iced tea for about $6. Greenstreet offers the same breakfast (actually less because you dont get bacon or a drink and get cheap toast instead of your choice of bagel) for twice as much money. While I like the homefries at Greenstreet better and its much more of a "scene", its kind of a ripoff.
Coral Bagels is a great little diner without the pretentiousness that is Miami. Ease up on em already.
The absolute nicest people go for the down-home breakfast at Coral Bagels! From the day we moved to Coconut Grove three years ago, we've rarely missed a Saturday, sometimes standing in line, sometimes lucky right away. We're always thankful that the place exists and that it is a local treasure. In all the times I've eaten breakfast there, I've never seen an unhappy person. Love it!
This place Could be a Gold Mine if it were cleaned and tried to get into a more Kosher style feeling. Maybe a kind of Jerrys or the old Rascal House swing. Parking is sweet (being that almost everyone moved out) Easy deal for the new owners to fix. Service with a Smile would also go a long way.
