They are coming for The Cheesecake Factory, not you

cocowalk1
At the Merchants Meeting the yesterday, the subject came up about a few people doing everything. More people need to get involved, just so that there are some new ideas kicking around the meetings.

It was brought up that The Cheesecake Factory is the reason many people visit the Grove. I was shocked to hear that, because we always try to make the chain restaurants and stores the bad buys, but the truth is, people come here for Cheesecake and Chili's.

But the main focus should be on the Grove's one-of-a-kind businesses and small town feel and it behooves each business owner to get involved if they want people to visit the Grove for their business along with the chain stores.

Once we have them here, thanks to The Cheesecake Factory and Chili's, it's up to each business owner to persuade people to visit them, too. They could give out coupons, have some sort of event outside or inside or just have great sales. Once the audience is here, grab 'em.

Other restaurants could give coupons to people on the streets to get them to return another time to visit their place. Clubs can give two for one coupons for after dinner drinks.

While I have been to Cheesecake Factory to me it is "ok". It is not the reason I go to the Grove. I have been going there for years before there was a Cheesecake Factory. I love the feel of the Grove I love the energy in the streets. I can sit at Green Street for hours and just enjoy the view.

Peaceole, please & sincerely, what do you mean, when you state you love the "feel" of the Grove? What feel is that? And could you possibly advise, sincerely, how to translate this "feel" into some dynamic attraction so that people in general, from foreign and domestically might want to come and pay credits to enjoy whatever it is that you are referring to?

I went to The Cheesecake Factory 2 times since they opened.
Never went there just for that.
I think I was getting Hammered at Tuesday's and got hungry.
I always went for Fat Tuesday's,
Hooter's (for the wing's of course!) And my favorite TuTu Tangos. OH Last but certainly not least the Bikini Clad Beer girl's at The BAHA BEACHCLUB!

Kind of funny with Cheese Cake Factory. It is the smallest restaurant in their chain. But without question they seem to fill their space almost every night with a waiting line. So we all can say what we want, but they are doing something RIGHT. Just order light, because you will be going home with left overs. Plus their cheesecake is really sweet! Sorry no code 33 here.

I live in the Gables and I love the Grove. Having lived on Haight street in San Franciso, I loved that almost all the shops were locally owned there and it gave the neighorhood it's own flavor. I'm an outsider and have only been in S. Fla for 10 years - but I love the character(s) here and I'm looking to buy a home in the Grove. I get a feeling there is a certain apathy among the shop-keeps, but please don't give up. Sometimes the necessary "evil" is the large chain stores to bring patrons to the area, as long as they don't become the norm.
