And they're off . . . until the black Jaguar stopped them
This is the first batch of runners in the FICPA 1040K Run/Walk passing through the Grove right now. We'll have more photos tomorrow.
One woman insisted on driving her car out of the Sailing Club, delaying many runners, guess she felt she needed to get out and they needed an intermission. Rude. Selfish.

Some streets blocked off with police. be careful out there!
It's an excellent Grove event every year. The "money talk" tax talk, "prizes" afterwards can get a bit annoying, but who cares with the pretty ladies, dedicated athletes of all ages and familiar faces there every year. The Grove ALS run is next, May 9th. Great Cause, I'm not much into taxes and accounting in the FICA run, but good event.. You get to meet people, much better than driving our cars the rest of the year. Great cause next, Lou Gehrig's Disease run, right here in the Grove. Just 2 races per year. CI
I want to echo the comment of Anon 9:01. Hosted by the ALS Recovery Fund, the 8th annual Lou Gehrig's Disease 10K Run & 5K Run/Walk promises to be great fun and is a terrific cause. Not only is this event becoming one of the top 5k runs in S. FL, it provides much needed support to those w/ALS and their families. See you there!
Are you surprised Grape that she was rude? Me? Not at all...
I think Rude is a nationality down here.
It's not a Jaguar- it is a Lexus.
LOVE this event - sorry to have missed it.
(About the driver: It's ME first in Me-am-Me, FLA)
(on a side note, my word verification is "palin" - that's funny)
OTOH, how unreasonable is it to take a couple steps out of the way around a 15' long car? Not very. After all, this isn't exactly the Olympics we're talking about. Maybe we all shouldn't be so judgemental.
To the last Anonymous, you sound like an ignorant person. Races are timed in seconds. Putting a car in the center of the track is not a good idea.
To 3:55 Anon; you're absolutely right, 3:52 Anon does sound ignorant! The fate of mankind clearly hangs in balance over precious few seconds of elapsed finish time in the FICPA 1040.
