Update on the BID

There was a BID meeting last week. Not much happened. A little arguing over money and events, but other than that the news is basically this:

The great news is that the final step happened on March 17, the Mayor signed the final papers making the BIC (Business Improvement Committee) a BID (Business Improvement District). I told Dave Collins, (Mr. BID) that every St. Patrick's Day now, he can drink a green beer to toast the BID anniversary.

A new Administrative Manager should be starting soon, that person will be second in charge in the daily workings of the office.

A part-time person will be hired to deal with "street scapes" -- flowers, light poles, banners, street decorations, etc.

You'll be seeing more police on the streets -- on the beat -- they will be wearing hats and name badges and have the Coconut Grove BID logo on the backs of their shirts. The logo was created by Turkel pro bono and will be revealed soon.

Great! Now I can stop calling that thing the "Bickity-BID!!!" Best of luck to Dave! Don't push green beer on the man! Serve him an honest whisky! Best of luck to Dave, may everyone support & assist him with positive solutions & suggestions for the BID.
