Grape,
The GEICO lawyer is on the phone. He says Jeff Loria told him to call.
Go Sarnoff and Regalado!
I understand the concern for not giving away money for this, but consider the alternative, a city without Major League Baseball.
That is a greater crime. There are many cities out there that would be happy to use public funds to build a stadium to lure in an MLB Team.
Oh, woe! A city without a major league baseball team! The sky is falling!! BFD
Anon, there are plenty of cities without baseball teams that still manage to make due. Having a baseball team that is supported by 5000 people when the stadium seats 35000 is more of a crime than not having one at all.
to anon 2:09......if you understand the concern then the alternative is no concern !
I am not a fan of baseball but I do recognize that it does create jobs and brings more money into the area. Its easy accounting that I think we should all understand.
Give me $300 million and I promise to create jobs, too. First I'll flip the money to make $600 million, then I'll create the jobs like the Marlins.
someone needs to create tshirts with this for the next commision vote.
Maybe Related Group can help with that and busing people in...
Its a 300million dollar stadium but gives us priceless marketing.
Yeah, priceless marketing as the worst idea and exploitation of taxpaying citizens by government greed.
Does "priceless" mean it has no value?
