Central casting was very busy today

marlins
I love how the real protesters have to deal with the central casting groups that are sent out on various political issues in this city.

This morning, the real public protesters, those against the bail out for the Marlins (above) and the paid fake protesters sent out by the Marlins lobbyists and central casting office (below), clashed at City Hall.

It's amazing that when the public is against something, we can't have fair play, we need to bus in paid people to oppose the issue. I asked this group above who paid them to be there today and they all yelled out in unison, "Miguel Fuentes." Then they all chanted his name non-stop until I told them I was with the Grapevine, then they denied saying his name, but I didn't pull it out of thin air, now did I?

Below, you can see the union workers who were paid to be there. These poor lost souls, if they don't have jobs now, they never will get jobs by the Marlins organization and even if they get jobs, they won't be able to afford to go to any of the games.

It's all quite funny. Remember the fat lady at Shaq 24 Hour Fitness last week? The one who was picketing because the Port of Miami did not give her a job? Well she was out there today being paid to picket for the Marlins.

When I questioned her, she yelled at me in Spanish, screaming at me, telling me she didn't speak or understand English, calling me every nasty name you can imagine, all in Spanish, which I found odd, since she talked to me in perfect English last weekend in front of the gym.

But the little fattie changed her tune, and her language, when I pulled out my camera and took her photo. All of a sudden she remembered English and her nasty cursing turned to perfect English. I did take her photo, but she is so pathetic, I don't want to show her face here out of pity.

The Marlins have these poor, stupid people talking and picketing for them at City Hall. I am sure the City Commission sees through all this. It's just a shame that these people have to be exploited in this manner. The Marlins don't give a crap for these people and these people don't give a crap for their own City. It's all about money on both sides.

The protesters make their few bucks and get free lunch today, until their next casting call by some political group and the Marlins get their millions on the backs of the taxpayers, flip the stadium and walk away with millions.

Remember the "Meet the Mets" chant? Let's have AIG meet the Marlins. Both scammers who use the public and laugh in their faces.

Nice piece of reporting here, Grape. I think its hilarious that the fat lady is there taking another handout. Youre right, the people being paid to protest FOR the stadium clearly value a few bucks and a free lunch over their City. They will pay for it in the long run if this thing passes. I wrote a letter to the President today and posted it on my blog. Im fully aware that there is little chance he will read it, and even smaller chance that he can intervene on the issue, but it was worth a shot. This deal is Bad Idea Jeans.

The fellow in the brown suit with the two pro-Marlin picketers is in fact Miguel Fuentes, Political Director of the Florida Carpenters Regional Council. Or his evil twin.

Just curious, why do you think none of these people will get jobs at the stadium? Unless I'm wrong and the thing gets dropped down by divine intervention, someone has to build it, don't they?
And if they ship in workers from out of town, well, that's good for our economy as well. They have to pay to sleep and eat here.
But the guy who directs me in the parking lot, and who takes my ticket, and who sells me my hot dog...
Where do you think these people are going to come from? The surrounding neighborhood.

I don't think most of them will get jobs with the Marlins for various reasons. Most are plain stupid, most probably will have jobs by the time contruction starts and I am sure thousands will be applying for the few jobs and percentages are not in their favor over all who apply.

In fact, if they do get jobs, that would constitute payoffs and bribes (for them to be there today) and I don't think they will be seen again after they are given their $10 and box lunch today.

I am not against baseball or a new stadium. I am against giving hand outs to millionaire owners and players.

Another thing: the fat lady is not a worker, she is out go get what she can on the dole. And most there today are not construction workers and probably don't even know where the stadium will be located.

They were mostly "paid actors" today who don't give a crap about working at the stadium. They were there to make a buck today.

I am sorry that the 3 Amigos (Angel Gonzalez, Joe Sanchez & Michelle Spence-Jones) voted for the Marlins Stadium but it was pretty much predicted they would line up with Manny Diaz.
I was very surprised and disappointed that Marc Sarnoff had a chance to vote against the no-bid contract but voted for it.
Our only hope left for this fiasco to end will be if the economy gets so bad that the bonds don’t sell well enough.
All of this aggravation could have been spared if a referendum had been permitted by the City of Miami to let the citizen’s vote.
Judge Cohan had a great opportunity to make things right by authorizing a referendum but she also failed us.
How can our leaders look at us with a straight face and claim Transparency when we citizens are not permitted to vote on the Stadium Deal.
I also resent the fact that this Mega Scam Marlins Stadium deal was packages along with the Tunnel and Museum.
All three issues should have been voted on by the citizens separately.
If Spence-Jones and the other Amigos are so concerned about finding jobs for their constituents, then they should do something positive in their districts to develop many more new employment opportunities.
Buildings a stadium for a wealthy for-profit company to offer rich ball players a great work environment and rich folks entertainment is not the best way to generate jobs for those needy constituents.
I have known Tomas Regalado for 30 years.
I used to sell Spanish Language Radio ads at his then station WQBA.
He is a great guy and shall make a great Mayor for Miami.
His NO votes against the 3 Amigos and Manny Diaz have been proven time and again to be the correct votes for our city, when the cases reached the courts.
Tomas was correct to be against the rezoning of Mercy Hospital, the Fire Fee, the claim that the Miami River is dead and permitting Home Depot to enter Coconut Grove.
I plan to do all I can to get Regalado elected Mayor and Beba Mann elected to the soon to be empty Sanchez seat and District 3 Commissioner
If you wish to help elect Regalado and Mann FOR A BETTER MIAMI, then please feel free to contact me.

I know she yelled at you, but no sense stooping to her level and calling the woman "fattie". Makes you not much better.

I wasn't really calling her "fattie" as a put down, that's just how she presented herself to me the first time as the "fat woman" who couldn't get a job. So I guess that is how I know her now, as the fat woman. First impressions. That was hers by her choice.

What's up with Joe Sanchez? Why is he so eager to give away the taxpayers money?

I work in Brickell and there are always a bunch of people "protesting" with big signs in front of buildings. Most of these people seem to either be homeless or unemployed, but are paid to spend the day there by the groups they represent. At some point last year it was the janitors protesting against the buildings' property management companies.

Early this year, it was the carpenters. They were not only picketing every single day, but they were singing/chanting all day long, which you could hear from a blocks away. That, and they would hand-out flyers when you walked past them, and it said how "such and such builder is a bad corporate citizen because they didn't hire such and such carpenter company," etc.

It's highly annoying, I don't think anyone can stand any of them.
