We need more security or police waking the streets

Someone I know was jumped and beaten while waiting for the bus near CVS.

Three guys attacked him last week, about 8 pm. Just thought you should know.

CVS is a notorious crime location. We know it as Grovites and is confirmed in the Herald police blotter. With our over the top ticket writing security police, couldn't they spend a few extra minutes at CVS? Sorry too for the crime against your friend.

I never go there unarmed. No, really.

The police will not protect you. Take responsibility for your own safety by arming yourself and getting a c/c permit.

Ok, you try your approach, I'll use mine. This is a different person then the original poster, but I never travel ANYWHERE in Miami without my handgun as well (unless it is somewhere where you cannot carry w/ a CCP, like a bar) I prefer to not rely on others for my safety. The grim reality is that there are more thugs with guns out there then you can imagine, and they sure aren't giving them up because the law says they should.

You say the police won't protect you. Are you saying you desire a police state with officers on every street corner, as in Colombia? Or are you saying that if there were a police officer observing an attack that they would just stand there doing nothing? I'm not in love with such authority and a fews cops give the vast majority a bad rap, but I am sure, good or bad, just about every cop dislikes violence being acted out against all of us.
If you know that CVS is dangerous go where it is not dangerous until CVS realizes your lack of business is being felt on the bottom line. CVS will either hire adequate security or ask the police for additional attention. Presently the security guard is an aged gentleman of Latin decent who I am sure is doing the best that he can and he carries a gun. Get some young stud that will chase the thugs down and throw them to the ground like the uniformed cops do and step on their face, in the gutter, surrounded by citizens and you know what----the thugs will still return when they get out of jail.

The "penis" comment is typical. I suppose I should assume that people who don't like guns have some sort of vagina anxiety? What's up with that?

Anyhow, getting rid of all guns is a pipe-dream, and counterproductive. The UK banned all handguns several years ago, and guess what? Violent crime has gone through the roof. Now, only the criminals are armed.

In contrast, violent crime has gone down in every U.S. state that has enacted "shall issue" concealed carry permit laws, including Florida.

The latter poster at 8:11 a.m. disingenuously asks, "Are you saying you desire a police state with officers on every street corner, as in Colombia?"

No, that would be silly. Indeed, one who relies on authority to provide for his safety is, objectively speaking, an authoritarian. On the other hand, I believe that we are endowed by our Creator (nature, whatever you want to call it) with certain inalienable rights, and that among these rights is the right of self-defense, and the right to defend one's family and property.
