Teen boy almost abducted at La Salle High School

There was an attempted abduction at La Salle High School (3601 S. Miami Ave.) last Friday.

A 16-year-old boy was waiting for his father to pick him up after a late game. He was sitting on the steps at the gym alone. A car pulled up and insisted that he get in. The teen had a brief verbal exchange with the stranger, and after realizing something was not right, the teen ran into a dark side of the football field.

The stranger in the car went searching for him in the car. The teen was spotted again but ran again and hid in some bushes until his father finally arrived. The boy told his father what happened and the father called the police, but the strange car had disappeared by then.

Is there any video surveillance footage, this is serious stuff, in the early 1990's someone tried to do the same thing to me in an old black Ford Mustang type, two door behind Mayfair.

Please we need more info on this, I hope you are able to obtain it -- what was the verbal exchange? What sort of car was it? Physical description? This is OUR BACKYARD - we need to find this creep and get him out of our neighborhood.

I agree this is serious and we don't need things like this happening so close, but....being a teacher, why wasn't there an adult waiting around w/the kid? No mater what his age, a teacher should've been present until every single kid was gone.

"they believe he was a child molester"

How do they know this, did the teen identify the person from a photo of a local sex offender? I guess its time to check the miami-dade webstie and review all the photos of registered sex offenders in the area again.

Wow. I went to La Salle, and played football this is a huge suprise to me. There was many a time when I would be out by the gym waiting for the pick up after practice.
Scary stuff.
A friend of mine had his car stolen right by the gym a few years ago. That was about the worst thing that happened in the 4 years i was there.

The reason why there wasn't a teacher waiting with this student was because the "late game" had no affiliation with La Salle.
