That is one smile he is squeezing out of himself. He is going to be like the rest of the establishment, do not vote for these clowns, vote them out.

What's wrong with "looks kinda gay"? Does that make you less qualified? Instead of wondering if he looks kinda gay, wonder if he looks kinda incompetent.

from the Herald:
Sanchez unveiled not only his candidacy but also a campaign theme on Tuesday: ''Neighborhoods first.''

huh?

what about the neighborhood around Mercy Hospital?

what about the neighbors voices on Grove Harbour Marina?

I love how these guys try to recreate themselves. do they think we have no memory?

Sanchez votes with Gonzalez and Spence Jones - check his voting record - you can't break that trifecta ..can you say Mercy, Home Depot, he is positioned to vote for Grove Harbour office bldg - all of a sudden he's showing up in the Grove - where was he when we needed him? The Grove has a long memory. It would make Manny very happy to leave with Joe in his seat - he could still pull the strings like he does with Spence Jones.

No we have no memory, it is all marketing, PR and advertising. Just look at Miami's elected officials, from commissioners to Judges. A serial killer would be able to get elected with the correct campaigning.

Perhaps the "80 cent man",(bum),
who sits next to New York Pizza
should run for any of these offices. At least he has a presence in the Grove.
I will make his first campaign contribution - 80 cents!

Please send your contrubutions to
BFO - Bums For Office. We might as well just elect more!

Regalado has at least voted yes on most Grove issues...

Regalado is a much more sincere candidate. Not nearly as slick as Sanchez which I prefer. He seems more interested in helping the consitutents rather than big business.

Hey why don't we all meet Joe at the Grove Harbour office building site for lunch and enjoy the waterfront while we still can!

Last I checked Regalado's door is always open to talk. I can see no reason why it wont stay open when he is Mayor.
He will be missed in the radio though.

We need someone to run whose name doesnt end in a "z" or a vowel. Those candidates have trashed this city enough already.

Joe's job as the Commissioner for District 3 over the last 10 years has been to represent District 3. He's accomplished a lot in that role. They have built affordable housing, improved parks, put in bike lanes to make the streets safer for bicyclists, installed traffic circles (in places where the intersection is big enough, unlike certain circles in the Grove) to slow traffic where it was dangerously fast in residential neighborhoods, cleaned up properties with code violations that were dragging their neighborhoods down, and sparked a revival of the Little Havana business district through the institution of Cultural Fridays and other events, among other things.

Reading this blog you would get the impression that Tomas Regalado is the savior of all values the Grove holds dear. He has supported us by standing up against some things we cared about. He's very good at being against things, but when was the last time he was FOR something? You should note that much of the bad development along Coral Way and 27th Avenue, high rises backing up on one story single family homes, is in Regalado's district, and he did not stop it from being built.

With respect to Grove issues, when a developer was seeking the Commission's permission to cut down one of the largest and oldest oak trees in the Center Grove, Joe voted against allowing it. When the Mercy Hospital project, which the Village Council supported for reasons that have not been discussed here much -- such as that 300 luxury condos would create a minimal traffic impact on the Grove while an unlimited height medical office or other such building that could be built as of right on the site had the potential to be a traffic nightmare -- Joe was the Commissioner who demanded the project's height be lowered significantly.

Before you make blog-based assumptions about who Joe Sanchez is and what he stands for, check out his website (www.joesanchez.com), and come to one of the events we will be organizing in the Grove so you can meet him. If you like what you see and want to become part of the Grove's volunteer effort, get in touch with me. I will be coordinating the campaign in the Grove.

I don't know much about any of them, but if you read the minutes during the commissioner hearings, Regalado has supported the Grove residences/businesses much more by a landslide.

The only qualified person to become Mayor of Miami is Commissioner Marc Sarnoff. He is great!

If he should put his name into the running he would be a sure bet. Let's campaign for him to run!

Ms. Niemeyer could you post your email address for those of us that would like to volunteer. I understand that Commissioner Sarnoff is also working for the election of Mr. Sanchez. I did notknow with individual to back and work for until I was told of Commissioner Sarnoff's support for Joe. With both you and Sarnoff backing Joe I am sure we can win!

Ahhhh political spin. Its grand is it not?
Honorable Michelle Niemeyer you mention that Joe was the only Commissioner to request the height be lowered.
That is true.
However you fail to mention that Regalado OPPOSED completely and because of that I can still go out by mercy with a little cafe con leche from the cafeteria and sit out and think by the bay.
Aint life grand?

Sarnoff for mayor? Isn't it enough that he has destroyed the Grove?

I don't need to go to his website or a campaign event. I watch the commission meetings, so I know this:

Joe Sanchez is no friend of the neighborhoods.

I actually remember Regalado proposing a few things off the top of my head. One of them being The replacement of non parks/police/solid waste vehicles with cars that get over a certain mpg (not necessarily hybrid) it was voted down immediately a year later Manny brought out his hybrids by Joe.
So it isnt that Regalado voted yes or no. Its that the other Commissioners (at the time) did not want to vote with him. Because he was not a "team" player. Regalado is part of "my" team. And thats why I am going to vote for him. And we have three new seats coming into the commission who will hopefully also be part of the "my" team.
Its we take our city back, from the grove to wynwood

Joe Sanchez is the people choice for Mayor of Miami.
We need fresh and talented blood.

The other is just a couple of years from landing on his face.
TR is too old and frail to carry on city business. TR is also known as Dr NO - Mr Negative - No No No.

Our votes go for Joe Sanchez.

Regalado is the ONLY commissioner who cares about the vitality of ALL neighborhoods, even those not in his district.

In comparison, Sarnoff uses neighborhoods, like Midtown/Edgewater which are in his OWN district, as sacrificial lambs for his developer associates.
