The little greedy assembly line continues

There are more cops than cars are on the streets again today, particularly near the Shaq 24 Hour Fitness Gym and the Bookstore. On both sides of the street cars are being ticketed left and right. I should have taken a photo, it's quite a show. All the cops are writing tickets, their patrol cars are on and off the sidewalks, they have the lights flashing. You would think there was a murder. One guy looked to be about 90 years old -- he was getting a parking ticket.

People are not reading the "no parking" signs and at this point I am beginning to believe that people are just plain stupid.

I still think that four or five police cars in literally a one block area for about eight "no parking" spots is a bit much, but if people want to continue to be jerks, I guess the cops will take advantage of the situation.

I don't know why there are eight "no parking" zones right in the center of town, shouldn't they be around the corner on Florida Avenue or Rice Street where loading and unloading of trucks, buses and what not can go on? How about taking those parking spots that the taxis seem to live in 24/7, on both sides of Virginia Street near the Mayfair Hotel, and make them "no parking zones" and "loading zones"? They are doing no one any service now except the taxi drivers that park there free night and day. And no money is coming in via the meters or parking citations. They are not generating money for anyone except the taxi drivers.

In fact, if the buses stopped in that area, including Florida and Rice, they could actually have people walk through the Mayfair plaza to Grand Avenue, maybe get some business for Anokha and give a little life to the area. Does anybody think in this town? Ever?

Who is actually allowed to park in front of the gym? Tour buses don't park on that side and delivery trucks are ticketed too. Why are those spots no parking zones?

"Does anybody think in this town? Ever?"

The City of Miami never does. All they care is about the Revenue they get from the Grove. They are obviously completely out of touch with our realities.

This will continue until the Cocoanut Grove Village becomes its own City. Look at the adjacent Cities of ours, Coral Gables and Key Biscayne. Do they have this parking mess or many other problems we have?

The tourist bus loading zones are a joke. All they do is dump tourists who get a coffee at starbucks, use the bathrooms at cocowalk and leave. They don't spend any other money here yet are given prime parking so the fat ass tourists don't have to walk very far to get their coffee and pee.

get rid of the tourist bus stops we dont need them.

Not that I think that anyone at the "City of Miami" offices actually thinks, but most of the time, when someone says "doesn't anyone think" what they are really saying is "think... like me?" which is arrogant. You are blowing what is really a small problem (a few cabs) into a way bigger problem than it is. There are tons more things wrong with the Grove.

Coconut Grove needs its own elected Mayor or Chief to resolve all its problems. The Grove is almost like a foster child in the household of parents too busy with their own problems.
