I met with the local police about the parking issues

I had a long talk with many of the local police force today and also, we got rid of a lot of the taxis parked on Virginia Street who were parked free at metered parking spots.

I don't know how long that will last, but as I walk by now, I am threatened and hooted at by most of the remaining taxis that are parked along the street.

Details of our meeting to come . . .

The cabs belong on the Fla. Ave side of the Mayfair. How is it that the Mayfair has two cab stands? Let's share them with the other hotels - the Ritz has plenty of unused spaces on the street or send them to the Post Office lot since no one else can use it.

I think that the 'loading zone' parking spaces would be a good place for taxis to hover, not those prime spaces that Grove consumers want.

There's probably not too much overlap in prime delivery time and prime taxi time. Could this work?

I sympathize with cabbies' need for fares, but at the same time I don't really see any community value in having a line of yellow surrounding Mayfair.

Thanks for addressing this issue head-on Grape. Will be interested to see what unfolds.

You need two cab spaces, max. Other cabs can come in as each of those gets a fare and leaves. That's the way it's done elsewhere. First cab in line gets the fare. Then the second. Backup cabs come in to fill the two spots. This isn't rocket surgery, guys.
