Evil lurks in the hearts of the Miami Parking Authority

This morning a guy from the Miami Parking Authority was ticketing cars. I asked if he knew about the grace period -- an hour as of yesterday. He said no. He said that there was no grace period.

I asked if he knew of the 15 minute all year long grace period. He said that was 10 minutes.

I asked him if he was going to ticket the car that just pulled up across the street, or was he going to be a mensch and tell the guy that he is parked in a loading zone (where a few signs were actually ripped out by someone angry, so there actually is no sign there that says loading zone now). He said, no, that the guy knows better and that he would wait for the guy to pay for parking, wait for the guy to leave and then ticket the guy.

Real class that Parking Authority is.

Guess the Miami Parking Authority needs the money from Coconut Grove so they can continue giving it all to Calle Ocho for their Viernes Culturales events. Yup, they are a
proud sponsor. So all the parking money they get from Grove ticket citations seems to go to the other side of town.

More on this to come . . .

Yep. Millions of Grove's taxes and monies go anywhere but the to the Grove. Millions, every year. That's quantifiable and certifiable. And the City of Miami wants more from the Grove, tickets, business fines, whatever, to pay for other stuff elsewhere.

And they can't even pave our roads (check out the "historic Tiger tail" Mine Field, looks like Mars with so many Craters by now, or our infamous non-existent "bike-paths").

Then look at out adjacent cities, with free Parking many times, Gables or Key Biscayne, they use their monies locally, heck, Key Biscayne just re-paved and re-painted almost the whole way down to Crandon parK, great Bike path and all, Parks renovatons every day, etc.

The Cocoanut Grove Village will continue to be abused, ignored and milked dry by the City of Miami, until it becomes its own City. And until we organize ourselves and DO something about it.

Crying, pointing fingers and complaining about the blatant, numerous injustices won't change anything.

Sarnoff's Quotes---

1. We are a donor district which means 1/3 of all our taxes go to the rest of the city of Miami.

AND

2. Coconut Grove makes up 78% of all the taxes collected for City of Miami.

Grape, I think you are on the right track here.

One would think that if one is about to make a mistake, the other would correct him/her.

Just don't get arrested.

(Although it would be fun to read your comments from jail!)

Do they enforce parking on 8th street? I think not. We are being singled out and targeted and its about time we all do something about it.

OK, Grapevine.

Yes parking tickets are unpleasant, but evil lurks?

You know, it's not difficult to avoid getting a parking ticket even though I still get them from time to time.

for the Grove to secede it would be a city wide (miami) vote....do you think for one minute that vote would be in the Groves' favor ? if you do....call me....I,ve a bridge in NY to sell you too !

Hey Grape,

Whats wrong with admitting that the Grove voted to "spread the wealth".

Only it's OUR taxes now!

The NEW parking tickets "autorithy" are very un-trainned.
They tell some costumers be quiet otherwise they will give more tickets.
They are COPs without guns and think they have a lot autorithy for to do wat they want.
Poor people.
