HI..my name is Justin..I am the operator of speak easy..and this night we are bringing in, while not to the taste of all, is defintely a well versed crowd of young artists that choose to speak thru hip hop....the neighborhood will be fine as long as we can silence the mind of those close minded thoughts you see spoken here. Please open your eyes, the owlrd has more than one color, try living in it!

Justin was anything but "well-spoken". I somehow got the gist of what he meant, but after barely tolerating Palin's mutilation of the English language, I have become exceedingly hypersensitive to borderline illiteracy.

Hip Hop is basically the poetic mutilation of the English language. I recognize it for what it is, but I dare say I will not celebrate it as some forward-thinking performance art movement.

Hip Hop is a reduction of language. The proliferation of it as a means of communication in everyday conversation does a disservice to our youth - its primary audience. However, I do recognize that solely as an art form, it has merit. Unfortunately, when life imitates art, as in the case of hip-hop/ghetto-rap-speak replacing eloquence in communication, we as a society lose. It would be one thing if the Hip-Hop artists could spell and speak in complete sentences, but dat jus' ain't dah case.

We respond to eloquence...

I'll go check it out...I guess.

t please stay home, your arrogant, ignorant, and your words are distasteful.. No one is begging to go.Stay in your mansion on the bay with your ivy league education. Your so smart. You sound like the woman you thought mutilated English, because she was also ignorant to the world outside of Alaska.

So I guess you are ignorant to the world outside your little safe and perfect world.,

Spanglish also is not eloquent, but it is also required to get a job here.

the last comment was so ignorant. Visit another country or read about other cultures outside of Miami. You will be amazed to find people who are so intelligent, unlike yourself.
Hip-Hop is a art form, you don't have to like it but you also don't have to degrade it.

GROW UP people or should I say WAKE UP...The world is changing... You should not judge anyone .......

Constructive criticism should never be misconstrued for judgment.

In fact the reaction from t's comment was pretty hostile. Not everyone is going to "appreciate" hip hop... get used to it.

Anything from the soul is art, as far as I'm concerned! Much hip hop don't cum from there.

Much Hip-Hop,you said it,take a second before you pre-judge anyone on that bill,
every one was hand picked by Michelangelo(host/promoter) and all he does is preach positivity and spiritual knowledge.
You want a sample of one of the artist he picked, got to

I don't like country or latin music, but I also don't bash it or try to dissect it. I guess I am not as ignorant as some of the great Grove elite.

Take the stick out.....

ignorance is taking everything at face value. "dissecting" something is going deeper and trying to understand it. Why so defensive?

wow, such ignorance, I guess you think it is black people's fault, oh wait I guess it is Obama's fault...lol GROW UP Most of your elite kids listen and buy it more than any other community. Yes the ones that go to Ransom and all the elite schools here, but they are so smart, and pure and can do no wrong..

Read a book

Visit another country

Go back to school and EDUCATE your mind........

But you all are already perfect and could do no wrong.. the music you listen to is so much better.

All the RACISM, SEXISM, AGEISM is Hip-Hop's fault, Wow

I forgot you all are perfect, but my family taught mw not to judge.

Hip-Hoppers take a chill pill.

I don't get the animosity. Why do the hip hop lovers feel the need to defend it so aggressively? IT'S OKAY IF NOT EVERYONE AGREES WITH YOU!

I love Luciano Pavorotti, Bob Marley, John Mayer, and even Spearhead sometimes. Is he hip hop?

For your information Hip Hop is not my favorite music because I have an open mind, I listen to everything... so yes I do listen to some songs..so I guess your saying black people that like hip hop talk stupid and even some white kids also are stupid because they happened to like hip hop...

GET A LIFE....

November 12, 2008 11:12 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

To the last anon...Who are you telling to get a life? Is it just everyone in general who isn't you? Or just to the "ignorant" "closed-minded" people who don't like hip hop?

By the way - having an "open mind" doesn't necessarily mean that one has to "listen to everything", but rather that you can accept other people's likes and dislikes without having a melt-down.

And to further insinuate that people who don't like hip hop need to "get a life", well - dat's jus' plain IGNORANT.

I'm laughing. You should too. Lighten up hip hopper dude.

hey t,Bob Marley was and John Mayer is a huge fan of Hip-Hop,
