Let's put on a play
Keep your eyes and ears open. Things are stirring. I know for a fact that many professionals are interested in the Playhouse, and the only thing holding them back is the bitter Board of Directors. The Governor needs to release this Bitter Board and let the show(s) go on.

AMEN!!!!
But why does no one seem to care?
People do care. Keep your ears open at the next Village Council meeting.
It's past time for the CG Playhouse to be open and having regular events. It's nearly criminal that it's been left to molder and collect dust. With all of the talent around, plays and concerts could be held often, and at a very reasonable cost.
does anyone know if the playhouse is available for events that aren't theater? I know of a few events I would love to host there if it were cheap and available (the latter is certain).
The Playhouse has actually been partially condemned as structurally unsound for the better part of a decade; sitting unattended and unmaintained, I'm sure it's deteriorated. The roof was leaking badly before it closed, and with no one there to dump buckets (or plug holes) it's unlikely that the builidng can be used "as is" for any purpose.
This is one of the major problems facing the Playhouse: once the debt is settled, it will take several million dollars just to be able to work in the building again, and that doesn't included the costs of mounting productions.
I'm actually working on a story about the CG Playhouse AND the Royal Palm Playhouse, up in Palm Beach. They face the same basic problems. I'll have it up by the end of the week.
I feel the same way.
It sure is sad to see such a grand venue go to waste literally, as it just sits. CLJ blogged about the condition of the playhouse.
What can we as residents of the Grove do to get this grand venue back?
