I had forgotten how great Anokha Indian restaurant really is
We had a delicious dinner at Anokha Indian Restaurant (3324 Virginia Street) the other night. We tried just about everything.
Their Indian beer is really good and light, too.
Loved the lamb chops, curry and tandoori dishes.
And their seafood appetizers and flat breads were a nice start to the meal.
They also accept Code 33.

They are a family business and they have worked very hard over the years to stay in the Grove where others would have just packed up & left. I've known them for many years & they are aiming to please!!! If you love something-tell them! If you don't, tell them! I wish them nothing but success & happiness.
I walked by last night and there were actually people dining there! A healthy amount of tables were full (pretty much all the outdoor tables, inside looked sparse). Hopefully they will build on this.
THe rest of the Grove was packed last night. Le Bouchon - PACKED. George's - PACKED. Jaguar - PACKED. Cita's - PACKED. I ate a Cita's and had a great meal although there were a few misses. There's a new chef there. Apparently the old one was very difficult to work with.
Did you happen to go by the Mayfair last night? It was overflowing with people waiting in a line to go upstairs to the roof deck. I dont think they were all of age either - a real young crowd. We left and had a nightcap at Jaguar.
Like Focaccia, Anokha too is family owned and yes, they have worked very hard at making the restaurant pleasing to everyone. But why should we go eat there? Like some people commented in other posts, you can eat cheaper at McDonald's or Denny's or better yet Taco Bell...
Those lambchops look delicious. I'm sold!
Anokha is really trying to please..try them...if you are not happy they will do everything they can to make you happy. The food is delicious. They are on Code 33 also. I can't wait to try those lamb chops too.
Blind Mind,
Regarding Cita's:
"There's a new chef there. Apparently the old one was very difficult to work with"
Please do not get involved in character assasination of Carlo and his proffesionalism. Facts are facts about people's character but the rest can be found more or less, on public records.
No one is assassinating anyone's character or their professionalism. I can be difficult to work with, so can you. If the people we're working for dont care for it, we're gone. Adapt and survive or deal with the consequences. Pretty easy.
And in a strange coincidence, there's been a great deal of bashing Cita's and their ownership on many message boards. Gee, wonder where that comes from?
Blind Mind, You wrote that the chef was difficult so that is why he was let go, that is what someone told you, and you believe it because you trust what you hear from that someone, so good for you and good luck but do not spread what you believe on message boards, unless you prescribe to this mantra: Repeat a lie and it becomes the truth.
Does this place have a website? I would like to see the full menu.
