Here is Michelle Niemeyer's original letter

This is the letter that Michelle sent out. The poll was actually removed because someone was spiking it and voting non-stop for Joe Sanchez, when in reality, it appeared that Tomas Regalado was winning.

It's amazing that Michelle even has to involve the non-Spanish speakers -- those who don't even read the Diario to vote in their poll. Reminds me of when people are bussed in to Commission meetings, like with yellow shirts, to push for an issue that most don't want.

Here is her original letter, that Grace Solares was responding to below.

The following link goes to a Spanish Language newspaper, Diario Las Americas. If you scroll down the left margin you will find a poll that allows you to choose between Joe Sanchez and Tomas Regalado. For those of you who are not Spanish speakers, the poll asks people to say who they would want to be appointed mayor if Manny Diaz is appointed to a position in the Obama Administration. I have told some of you I have agreed to coordinate Joe's campaign efforts in Coconut Grove, so I think you can guess who I voted for. Please click the link and vote. Don't let the Grove's opinion be left out of this poll, and please feel free to forward this e-mail to people you know (especially the ones who support Joe J).

I am supporting Joe because in my experience he listens and does what he believes is the best thing for the residents of the City and his district. We may not always agree but it is clear that he makes a serious effort to do the right thing. He doesn't make promises he can't keep but does do what he can to help when it is needed and is the right thing to do. I like that Joe proactively works to solve problems and improve our community.

He is not just a voice for the negative. He has done wonderful things in his district in his 10 years as the City Commissioner for District 3, including building affordable housing, cleaning up neighborhoods, revitalizing Little Havana, developing parks and building a community gym. In the last year he has turned around the Downtown Development Authority which is starting to show results (if you've been downtown lately you've seen improvements).

Please click the link and vote when you get this e-mail:

Thank you for taking the time. If you would like to be part of the effort to get Joe Sanchez elected as the next mayor of the City of Miami, please respond to this e-mail or call me at 305-[number removed].

Sincerely
Michelle Niemeyer

Why would she chose Joe? Joe has never done anything for the Grove?

could it be he may be voting for an office building on the waterfront - politics is politics and they make strange bedfellows.

Could it be that Ms. Niemeyer has the hots for Joe or that Joe has the hots for her? They do look at each other rather tenderly at City Hall.

Grape, I was surprised about your question about why I thought I should involve non-Spanish speakers. There are so many times that anglos I know complain they are being shut out because a lot goes on in the Spanish media that they don't know about. If you speak Spanish you realize a lot more coverage is given to local matters in Spanish language media than in the English language outlets. I brought the poll to the attention of people who may not read that paper so their opinion could be counted.

I have e-mailed you the response I promised you. Have a great evening!

I think its pretty obvious that Joe had someone clicking that button....makes it look like he has a good chance to run against regalado. That way all of Manny's friends continue to feed the campaign of our new "Manny"

Probably one from his staff, young guy - can't remember his name. I was told that he was caught stealing the Republican absentee list when helping McCain's campaign...has anyone heard more about this?
