Grove restaurant news . . .

Le P'tit Paris is closed all day today. They are "revamping" themselves and will reopen tomorrow morning at 8:00.

Could it be the scathing Herald review last week? The Herald really did a number on them. I have been there many times and never found what the Herald did. I enjoy the food, the staff and the ambiance. I won't even link the review here because it was so nasty and uncalled for.

I enjoy the mussels there, the reviewer hated the sauce. I actually have ordered extra bread to dip in the sauce because I liked it so much. Maybe I just hit it on good days. Who knows.

Maybe the Herald reviewer hit them on a bad day. We'll see what's new when they reopen tomorrow.

Some good news on Commodore Plaza -- my friend and neighbor Georges Farges is introducing the Beaujolais Nouveau tonight with live kangaroos bouncing around Georges in the Grove.

In the past at Le Bouchon, Georges has had a real elephant and giraffe. Tonight it's kangaroos. The fun starts at 6 pm and reservations are a must -- it gets sold out there. Call 305-444-7878 if you want to join the fun. There will be a "crazy dance party" with DJ La DeDe and DJ Trendy Wendy.

I like Le Petit's pastries but did not have good luck with the food or the service when I went there for lunch. Let's hope the Herald review serves as a wake up call for them and they step it up a notch. We need our Grove restaurants to be good all the time.

The Miami Herald with its over sized font is of and for the textually challenged, don't pay attention to them that is all they are looking for.

The Herald review was anything but "nasty" and "uncalled for." You sound like a scolding schoolmarm, upset that someone took issue with something in the precious Grove.

Blast the Herald's font size all you want, but the review was very particular in its dislikes and constructive criticism. It wasn't a positive review, but it was - more importantly - a well-written, poignant review.

[Editor's note: The link to the story was removed because I specifically said I didn't want it here.]

Poignant? I'm not sure I'd call the review or Le Petit's situation poignant.

Le Petit has an excellent location. Now all they need is good food served less than a half hour old!

I went to this restaurant on a Saturday evening and had the best service and the food was great. I was really impressed with their menu also.

That reviewer must be a meter maid in her off hours.

I went there on the 23rd of November and had a horrible experience. I find the Herald's review to be accurate.

I don't see why you don't want to link to it. You might be getting good service because they know you're the Grapevine.

If you want to read my review, it can be found here:

Elias, you sound like a total moron. Please don't accuse me of taking graft, as you did in your other comment posted, if you don't want to end up in court. OK?

Maybe they do treat me right because I am the Grapevine, but I see their tables packed daily, so apparently they are treating others right, too.

I removed my previous comment on the other posting; I see no need to be threatening legal action over something so silly. I don't think my comment was completely unfounded given that you do sell ad space on your blog to local Grove businesses.

Anyway, you are prominent in the Grove and they would be stupid to give you bad service. The guy that reviewed the restaurant isn't going to say he's from the Herald. You can also tell from the review that he went on more than one occasion, so they weren't necessarily having an "off" day.

Part of the reason we even went there was because I had seen it mentioned on the blog several times, and figured it couldn't be bad if you were always talking about them.

I love it there!!! They are not nice to the author because he is the 'Grapevine.' My husband and I have taken the time to get to know the owners and they come to greet us and chat every single time we dine there. They also have some very friendly servers, although typcially we ask for the same server every time we go.
