Bird Avenue is for the birds
Harry Emilio Gottlieb caught this scene early this morning on Bird Avenue. The Village Council was talking about burying phone lines, so then the birds may have nowhere to go.
But Harry sent me a list of plagues we have in the Grove these days. His word, "Plagues."
Peacocks, iguanas, raccoons, possums, some non-District 2 Commissioners, Mercy Hospital, Jorge Perez, Natoma Homeowners Association, Bay Heights Homeowners Association (they are both sell-outs and will do anything for a buck), post office signs, graffiti, missing pavers, 80 cent homeless guy, and now black birds.
I agree with most of Harry's list, but I like the peacocks, iguanas and the black birds.

I thought Harry would like the birds. They poop all over the boats at the marina.
The last time I saw this many gathering was just before Suzanne Pleshette got her eyes plucked out. Then they went over to Tippi's house...
Why do they have to be black birds??
A bit racists.....
:)
I love the Peacocks, iguanas, raccoons, opossums and birds. I could do without Jorge Perez and any homeowners association telling me what color I can't paint my house. Besides, even if they do bury the phone lines, we have many trees for them to land on. I don't think it will change the scene too much. We don't want to drive away the beautiful parrots though!
I was truly amazed to see those many birds perched on the telephone wires and atop the soon to be completed Walgreen’s on Bird Road near US1. I was compelled to stop and shoot the photo even though it was still a bit too dark. It was very Hitchcockian and perhaps even somewhat Old Testament Biblical. My list of Grove Plagues was meant to be humorous. A take-off on Mosses trying to get out of Egypt. Perhaps if the Grove has more plagues Miami will “Let Our Grovites Go” into Exile as well. Last but not least… I enjoy boats and especially sailing. I think that our Dinner Key Marina is just wonderful. I hope that all the dedicated folks that are working on the Waterfront Plan will come up with a solution that will improve the facility, services and appearance and be of even more benefit to all of us that love the water. -Harry Emilio Gottlieb
There's more than 27 Birds up there. Does everyone remember the 27 Birds Lounge where Flanigans is now? That was a real hot spot.
