Art lovers enjoyed the Saturday Night Art Stroll
Here is J. Bellichi working in his gallery at CocoWalk last night during the First Saturday Art Stroll.
Most places were open, some were closed. I think it's important for all of the galleries to participate or it defeats the whole purpose. We checked out Commodore Plaza, too, and the Butter Gallery was also open and busy with art lovers. Paco showed us some of the new installations.
The Windisch-Hunt Gallery also had many intersted art lovers. I think the trick with the First Saturday Art Strolls is to actually just be open. It seems that no one advertises the event and it just happens, so most of these art lovers just happen to be passers by who stop in to check out the art.
More advertising and promotion needs to be done for Grove events, I think. Thousands of people were here for Halloween and no one promoted anything, yet last night, I had flyers for various Grove events on my car. Halloween night would have been a great night to have these flyers on cars.

Putting advertising cards on cars only adds to trash on our streets. Some of the people that are hired to distribute those cards have actually been seen just throwing them on the street. They don't care because they will get paid regardless. We should not encourage that form of publicity.
One or two artists need to own this stroll and head it up and be responsible to get the word out and advertise. What about the Merchants Group - it helps them also.
