New Obama office opens in Grove

There is a new Obama group in the Grove called "Organizers for Change." Their office is at 3674 Grand Avenue, at the corner of Douglas Road in Village West, open weekdays from about 10:30 am to 8 pm. Obama signs and bumper stickers are for sale here. The group is also trying to get an office on Commodore Plaza.

Volunteers are needed to run phone banks and to get the vote out by canvasing the neighborhood. Early voting starts October 20, so if possible it would be a good idea to vote early to avoid long waits on election day, voter turnout is expected to be very large this year. Miami City Hall (3500 Pan American Drive) is the easiest place for Grove voters to vote early.

Early voting times and locations can be found here for the whole county:

If you would like to volunteer for the Obama campaign, it's easy to sign up on line and be on the email list for updates, events and other things. You may do that here: http://my.barackobama.com/page/group/CoconutGroveforObama.

There is a "get out the vote" event on Sunday October 26 at 1 pm. People will be meeting near the CVS and the farmers market (near Grand Avenue and McDonald Street). A planned march to City Hall will follow, where everyone will then vote early. After the march at 2 pm there will be a Kids for Obama event in Peacock Park with lots of fun stuff for the family.
