I heard it through the Grapevine . . .
Times are hard and newspapers are having problems, but it's a shame this had to happen this way with all the police showing up and making such a scene and all.

ok but maybe if the wine shop paid its bills instead of being a deadbeat, it wouldn't be shut down. Or let me guess, b/c it's a Grove business, you want to cut it a break. Time are hard, if you don't pay your bills/debt, you get shut down. The real shame is that this wine shop didn't live up to its obligation. They got what they deserved. Let me guess, you won't post this comment either b/c it doesn't kiss your a$$ or give praise to a grove business.
Somebody didn't take their medication today.
Guess what another business had their money in their bank account garnished for the same reason?
Was it he Snooty Wine shop guy who thought TuTu Tangos was bringing the wrong type of people to the Grove???
How many local wine shops are there?
I must be out of touch because I don't know of any.
The Loggerhead/Flannigan's/Big Daddy's (depending on who your talking to) has a nice selection and so does the Citgo gas station on 17th, believe it or not.
Since this was apparently a public event with "the police showing up and making such a scene and all", why couldn't you simply name the shop and the newspaper?
Cause it's fun to keep you guessing . . .
Cefalo's still had the wine shop/bar open next to Sammy C's. They didn't pay their bills. The Herald moved in and bye bye.
O M G !!!!!!!!!!
That's what I saw the other day! There were like 4 squad cars outside from the County.
Yeah, it's the Sheriff's Dept. that executes judgments. Which, as a lawyer, I should hasten to note that it takes a lot for things to get to that stage. First, you have a demand for payment, followed by a lawsuit, followed by a judgment (which, unless the suit is uncontested, can take months to obtain, at best). Then, when the judgment debtor fails or refuses to pay the judgment amount, you get the Sheriff to serve a writ of execution on the debtor.
Which is to say that the Herald can hardly be accused of having taken rash action, here. This had to have been cooking for several months.
I'm no fan of the Herald (Lord knows), but this could not have happened without Cefalo's having received more than fair warning.
Btw, a writ of execution would not necessarily shut the debtor's business down. It merely allows the creditor to collect enough assets from the debtor to satisfy the debt.
